Meet Greg
As a son of North Charleston, I’m running because our city deserves someone who knows it, someone who loves it, and someone who will fight for it.
I’ve spent nearly two decades investing in people and communities. In 2009, I founded a nonprofit that helped single mothers in North Charleston gain access to education and meaningful job opportunities. I started this organization because I wanted to be for others what I would want someone to be for me if I found myself in the same circumstance. I have also served as a youth basketball coach, mentor, and volunteer chaplain at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
My first apartment was in District 1, and the first house I purchased—just one month after I turned 23—was also in District 1. These neighborhoods shaped me, grounding the perspective and passion I carry today. Over the years, I have served every community in North Charleston, organizing back-to-school drives, community cleanups, and homeless feedings—efforts rooted in the belief that strong communities are built through consistent action and care.
My commitment to improving North Charleston is reflected in my leadership roles. I serve as Board Chair of a nonprofit focused on reducing gun violence and building safer neighborhoods. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Mediation and Meeting Center of Charleston, which provides pro bono and low-cost conflict resolution services, and on the Legislative Committee of the South Carolina Fair Lending Alliance, working to end predatory lending across the state.
Professionally, I work for a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that expands affordable housing and supports small business growth in underserved communities. I previously worked as a certified K–12 teacher and adjunct professor.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Master of Science in Education, and graduate coursework toward an MBA from The Citadel. My work has always been driven by a commitment to people—meeting needs, building connections, and creating pathways to opportunity across North Charleston.
